Laundon, age 50, passed away on October 20, 2005 as a result of complications from a malignant brain tumor. Caroline was a beautiful, intelligent woman who had the great fortune of being the loving mother of three wonderful boys, the wife of a loving husband, a friend to many and the treasured daughter, sister of her birth family. Angels conducts a 5K walk/run in April of each year. Caroline's Kind is one of many teams that tries to raise money and awareness for Angels Among Us. Laundon Memorial ScholarshipCaroline's children have all been student athletes at East Chapel Hill High School. Her youngest son is a lacrosse player and cross country runner. Her middle son was an all-conference soccer player who graduated from East in 2004. The eldest was a varsity basketball and baseball player, graduating in 2000. Caroline loved watching her sons and their friends compete in sports at East. In tribute to her memory, a group of friends and family established the Caroline Laundon Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide support to graduating scholar-athletes at East. The first award was made to an East senior in the spring of 2006. Funds are being raised in cooperation with sports teams at East and with the support of alumni from many other sports teams at East Chapel Hill. Alfredo’s Pizza has also generously contributed to this effort. Your tax deductible contribution will aid in providing a scholarship to deserving athletes and in remembering a wonderful person who contributed in many ways to the school and to the community.
